Default STI Amplified 12 volt speaker question

    Hi all, first post.
I am currently debating between the beltronics sti driver and the V1. At the end of next month I think I am going to do a side by side test with the 30 day free trial so I can evaluate which would be best for my location etc (hopefully valentine offers one).
First off, Is there anything I should know about beltronic's free 30 day test drivel?

More importantly, I saw that the STI Driver comes with a 12v speaker. I would be very interested in somehow using the wiring in the speaker and connecting it into my stereo. So, depending on how loud/quiet my music is, the RD will always be at the same level relative to the music. My stereo is always on, so the sound doesnt have to come from the RD and the speakers, but if it does, thats fine too.

Did I say that clearly? Is it simple enough to do without a shop's assistance?

Sorry if this is a repost or anything. I did a search but didnt find squat

    TIA

I hooked up my STI Driver's external amplified speaker and I can still hear the beeping tones clear enough from the 12v speaker that comes with the STI driver with the music playing loud.

The STi is loud enough without the speaker. With the speaker you won't need to worry. If your car has a mute button, you might be able to install a relay to mute the sterio when it detects. But if your system is that loud, a sudden mute can fry your speakers.

My speaker has a 'line of sight' to me, and I have it around 70%, and yes, my system does drown it out at certain times. Thankfully, I'm not as young as i used to be so my need for earth shattering music is waning... I'm running the STi-R, so I experimented with hooking the LED to a relay and trying to get that to mute my system on alert (using the phone mute on the deck) but the LED strobes, so the effect wasn't what I was looking for... Also, the LED continues to strobe even when muted.. so once again, not a great option.

The best option here is somehow tripping a relay when an alert is sent to the speaker. If anyone figures that one out let me know!

I am not worried about not being able to hear it really, more of, if i turn down the volume to have a conversation or answer the phone, I dont want that speaker still being loud and scaring the s.hit out of me. But it looks like its not too realistic anyway.

you can just press the mute button on the inline smart cord to mute the alert or hold it down the mute button to adjust the volume level up or down.

I installed a power kill switch for the speaker, just for the purpose of transporting the inlaws or talking on my cell phone. The detector still works, just no sound when it's off.
