Bel Sti in Ontario and the GTA

Hi All,

I've been running my STI for a few months here in Toronto and around the GTA as well. I usually have X band turned off in the city.

I'm trying to figure out if I should disable K band as well and just stick to Ka? What are your experiences? Looking through the search in this forum, a lot of the info for Ontario is a few years old, so I'm curious if you guys are noticing what bands are being used other than Ka in the region? (I travel mostly in the GTA, but go to Montreal, Niagara/Buffalo, Kingston/Ottawa, Collingwood, Muskoka, Keswick etc.

I got one recommendation for keeping City on in the 416 regions, Auto for 905 regions and highway on the highway...but maybe there are some other thoughts as well...

i keep mine on full auto
and dont turn of ur K band ur just asking for it
i had a LEO sitting rite by my house 2 days ago with K band

You can turn X band off.

Definately leave K band on. The OPP use K band almost exclusively. Recently, some of the highway rangers cars have had 35.5 Ka installed. Metro Toronto (as you no doubt have found out) use MPH 33.8 Ka, and still have a few handheld K band guns lying around.

def use highway because city mode reduces the sensitivity of K band...also watch out for laser which is also used in the OPP in warmer weather....i believe ultralytes are used...in quebec i have seen laser atlantas in use

I only turn on Kband when on the 401 or on the gardner express.
Ka and laser has taken over.

I don't know Canada at all, but here, I would NEVER turn off K band. I turn off X band (unless I go somewhere I am not familiar with) because the county I work in and live in do not use X band.

hey guys, thanks for the heads up. luckily i haven't turned off K and noticed it a bunch up in muskoka a few weekends ago. 33.8 has been prevalent here in the city when its not laser.
