    Default STi-Driver with TSR

I just got my new STi-Driver today. When I opened the Owner's Manual there was an insert that said Revision to your Owner's Manual. On the card it states that the STi has a new software installed called TSR Signal Ranking Software. A couple post down from mine I was reading best settings for the STi. Unless I missed it, I did not see anyone metion turning TSR on or off. By default it is off. If anyone knows the Pros or Cons of TSR, could you please share them. Thanks in advance. The build on my STi is 3509.

TSR is made for places the have the traffic monitoring equipment on the highway and it blasts a full k-band burst every 3-5 seconds. What this software does is that is basically takes the i/o threshold up so that it will not alert to these but the trade off is that it will be really easy for a leo running quick trigger or Instant on to nab your speed and you would not even know it.

Thank you for the information. Sounds like leaving it off is the way to.

Here is info about the traffic sensors that TSR filters out, the tech, and the cities they are used in (and growing).

These traffic sensors are not for law enforcement and are not the "Your Speed is ___" signs. They are used to supply data to traffic flow providers (Garmin, Tom-Tom, etc). They are also set up in series so that you will receive many K band falses on highways where they are used.

With TSR on, your detector will filter only these sensors while still alerting to other radar signals. There is slight additional response delay but if you turn your detector off due to these maddening K falses you are much worse off. We have them in a city nearby and they are extremely annoying.

TSR was developed due to the many complaints that we received about them in the cities where these traffic sensors are used.

If your city does not use them then leave TSR off (default setting), it will offer no other benefit.

Thank you for your input and knowledge about TSR. I clicked the link and what do you know, Raleigh/Durham has quiet a few in areas I drive . Guess I will experiment with keeping it off and see how annoying it becomes.

    Thank you EscortRadar.

In the SF Bay Area, this traffic flow monitoring thing is all over the place. I'm wondering if anyone has played with enabling the Escort K band filtering for this "TSR Signal Ranking Software" and if it is risky.

I noticed that the traffic flow monitoring is not always active. At rush hour it certainly is, but then we don't need no stinking radar detector when crawling in traffic.
