"The downloading of your radar detectors firmware takes out the hassle of having to send in your unit, every year or so. And in some cases even paying hundreds of dollars, like that other brand, just to keep your detector updated."

Hmmmm, looks like it's angled up in the air with a metal flange blocking the front of the antenna too.
I am cautious to leave any of my units in the hot sun, remote or window mounted...there is no way I would leave that in the AZ sun as you are begging for a reduced service life.

I think he is trying to imply that Valentine charges hundreds of dollars for a firmware update...........another gross misrepresentation of facts.

Valentine does not charge a penny for firmware updates provided that it does not require a hardware change. They also normally do not charge customers for "tune ups" even when the warranty is way past being expired. They also offer hardware upgrades on 20 year old V1's for a fraction of the price of buying a new detector!

To insinuate that Valentine gouges the Customer while Escort offers free firmware updates.........oh like the $59 TSR update.........or annual chargeable subscriptions for Speed Camera / Redlight DB.........is utter hogwash! I don't mean this as a slight towards Escort, as they have every right to charge for whatever services they want, but Radar Roy is obviously using a gross misreprentation of fact to push products. When they (Escort) use his false and inaccurate testimonials to support their products, then I do fault them.

Yeah he fails to differentiate between firmware and hardware. He makes it sound like I can get my 7500's firmware updated and it will perform like a Redline. The V1.8 has been on the market for how long now? The V1.7 is still used by many without issue. My 7500S still works like a champ. When did the 'sending it in every year or so' thing start? I guess I missed the boat...

For the masses Roy has a good dog and pony show being a retired LEO. Has 2 popular sites which one makes him a fistful of money. But the 2 percent or less that make up the other people (the hobbyists). We know the whats going on because its all about the $$. So the truth takes a back seat to SALES. I cant confirm because i just read it on another site. But apparently these 2 rd sites that RR owns has made him a millionaire. So i can see why he does what he does. But i dont agree with it because its not really honest. And its the consumer is the one who losses at the end of the day.
