USA STiR Plus Updates in Another Country

Hi All,

I have the opportunity to get a STiR Plus off a mate that bought it recently while he was in the USA, he has never used or registered it with Beltronics, I will be the first registered user so would I be able to specify my country when I register it as the first user and be able to update the unit with my local country speed camera database etc?

I cant possibly see that the unit would be hardware locked out...but as i understand it if the unit has been registered in another country then it cannot be changed to operate/download databases for another country. If it is bought in the USA and registered in New Zealand then I should be able to download the NZ database..correct??

I think the Beltronics will run the serial number of your detector and they going to determin which data base is for your detector.
They are not interchengable between the countries/markets.
In order to use the database in New Zealand you have to purchase the Sti plus International version made specially for the Australian/New Zealand market.

polak is correct. You cannot load another region's database into a North American STi-R Plus.

ok thanks guys, i appreciate it. i was getting for basically free but id really prefer to have the camera databases in there etc otherwise i may as well keep my STiR and not bother updating to the PLUS.
