Your Magnum probably draws .5-1A. That's enough to drain your battery if you leave it to a constant 12V power source.
How hard can it possibly be to find a switched accessory power circuit to tap in the car? Just go through your fuse box. Preferably, one inside the cabin, so you don't have to run as much wiring. Use a multimeter to check for a circuit that is dead with out the key in, and live in position II on your ignition and you have switched power. I highly doubt you don't have one fuse box on your car with switched accessory power. I don't buy your "switched sources are hard to find on this vehicle" excuse basically.
