    Question Sti-R help...falsing sort of

Ok...I have an original STi-R, as a matter of fact it was the first ones released in Australia and I had it imported. I love the detector. However, when I am on the highway and set to K band (OPP in Ontario) I get tons of hits from every Merc, Hyudia, Audi, Ford etc. that all have distance radar set on auto cruise. So essentially these are false hits to me even though the detector is doing what it is supposed to. Is there any way to eliminate these false hits? I have been just living with it until now but am hoping for a solution.

    THX.

That's coming of course from all of those obnoxious k-band lane departure systems. The original STiR I don't believe has the TSR feature that the later models do. I wonder if Larry from Escort/Beltronics can chime in here as to whether a firmware update as ever made that incorporated TSR into that model.

That would be nice if there was an update.

The original STi-R does not have TSR available for it.
Using Auto or City sensitivity modes may help reduce alerts to collision avoidance systems.

Don't mean to de-rail your Post, but your worries are much worse than the false radar signals from vehicles near you.The OPP uses Lidar models that your RD will not even Alert to !
It may be time to upgrade to an Escort Redline RD & some Laser defense, too.
    Just sayin'...

Good Luck from a Buffalo boy.

Some OPP use Lidar not all .Most still use K band. The problem for me with the Redline is it is only windshield mountable. My Sti-R is hidden and stealth. I have considered the LI, but again they are quite obvious in my neck of the woods.

Try a factor reset on the detector and see if anything changes.

LI cannot protect you from the latest Lidar models that the OPP use...only the AntiLaser "Priority" can give you FULL protection. The OPP also will shoot you in the back w/ laser,A friend from GTA received a ticket that way a few mo's ago !

*** - as you have an Int'l STiR original, that particular version you have may allow for segmenting of the K-band radar option.Check & let us know.Narrowing the bandwidth may help getting rid of some of it.

The sensitivity of the original R makes it a real pain with lane sensing systems. I've had some incredible range when out in rural Ontario detecting them.

As for laser protection you have to balance the risks for your particular situation. Our American friends don't fully appreciate the immediate confiscation of all devices at a roadside stop.

You're correct, we don't. However, the O that you and I sport is still the best of the best, V1C included, and you've gotta take the good ( sensitivity) with the bad ( k falsing). It's only going to get worse with BSM/LDW and cruise systems. The only alternative is to run Auto/Tec mode and/or turn OFF K if you can.
