Default Hardwired RD -- Messed up things on my Dash

Ok, so I hardwired my RD in my car a 2006 Ford Focus the other day. I was planning on going right into the fuse panel being that the RD had an inline fuse. Much to my suprise the fuse panel didn't have any available live slots. So i went out and bought a "add a circuit" , and I tapped into my radio. My RD. is working fine it comes on when the car is turned on and off when the car is off.

The problem is that my AC, Recirc and Defrost buttons on my dash don't light up when pressed, and they don't appear to be turning on their appropriate devices. I have checked the fuses
    Fuse #
    35 - A/C Switch / Instrument Cluster
    40 - Rear Defroster
    45 - Recirc
57 - Radio Cluster (Where i added the add a circuit)

They were all ok, i tried taking out the add a circuit and putting the normal fuse back in but nothing from these buttons still. Anybody have any ideas of what I may have done to my car

    Thanks

well if they still didnt work afterwards its definately not the RD tap's fault......... id jump to maybe you hit of did something bad in the process of running the wire.......... or that Ford didnt do a great job on putting together your car......... either way really

Oh give me a break

Check to see if you have a short somewhere (trace the wire). Are the buttons lit from a bulb? Maybe your shorted them and blew the bulb?

Sometimes the problems don't have anything to do with each other, the appearance of one problem is merely coincidental. You can't help but think--I installed the detector, now the lights don't work--it must be the detector's fault....

If the switches aren't lighting up, no power is getting to them. If you feel up to it, trace the wires back to see if you're getting power. or see if you can find the short.

Hope this helps, cause electrical problems can be a pain in the a$$.

    +1.

And to clarify the adage "pot calling the kettle black" - think of it this way, Arashi666....

A pot is typically blacked on its base/outside from having been on the stove, right?

Now, what about a kettle? Same, right?

    ^ There ya go!

I, too, am ESL - English as a Second Language. My wife still needs to explain things to me some times.
