Default Decision is made. I'm going Kraut.

After careful analysis I've decided to sell my C6 in March and purchase an 03/04 BMW M3 with under 30k miles. The new M3 is too expensive.

For those who don't know, I partnered up with an ad agency across town a couple of months ago and am now commuting roughly 80 miles a day. The C6 drivetrain seems up to the task but the day to day drivability is not very good. Its already rattling itself to pieces. I need a more durable performance machine and after driving the 180,000 mile M3 this morning I made up my mind. Even with the "slightly" higher maintinence cost the M3s confidence inspiring chassis made me feel like I'm driving a real automobile.

I'll get the M3, slap on a supercharger and should be pushing about 400hp. More than likely I will get a black one and veil out the lights. Obviously I will be running an "M Cam" so my boring speed trap videos will continue.

Thanks for all of your suggestions guys! Auf Wiedersehen!

BTW: Starla will be for sale in Feb with around 40k miles for 33k. I'd like to keep her in the family if possible so start saving your pennies if your interested.

I still think you should have gone for a 135i or 911, but I'm sure you'll love the M3, they're truly excellent cars.

I really think you should go turbo instead of supercharger, though.

Great choice! M3s are excellent. They aren't called "the ultimate driving machine" for nothing.

Please do let us know how you like it!

I still would've liked to see you keep the main daily transport stock - but I can definitely understand the temptation.

Aaaah yes!!! The infamous E46 M. A remarkable vehicle. I passed on it because it had absolutely no torque. I hate cars with no torque...... Unless they're super light and responsive. My lady is looking into the 335 in 08. That was going to be my next purchase until she said she wanted one. She loved the sound of the M but she doesnt like to rev the helll out of her engines so the 335 was the only logical choice. Have fun though.

If I can find a low mileage 03 911 carrera 4 I may go for that. But maintenance cost on the M3 are about 20% less than the Porsche. I can find parts galore for that car as well.

Stefan has a supercharger on his so that's the only reason I'm thinking SC. If the turbo install looks turnkey I may look into that. Depends on what kind of M3 I can find next year.

Great choice.... BMW makes an excellent car.
The 3 series are nice and sporty and with the
M3 your have that extra added performance as
    well.

If you like, have a look at the Audi A4 ( S line )
One of my Friends has one and really likes it.

Currently, BMW is out of Audi's league. They killed the S4 sales so bad that Audi had to redesign the dammnn thing and go back to the old faithful bi-turbo setup. The M5 is getting bi-turbos. The X5 is getting bi-turbos. The 335 is now flirting with 450 bhp and 480 tq. Gonna have to compare Porsche to BMW from now on.

I was shopping for an RS4 Avant when I stumbled across the WRX STi. It seemed like almost the same car only 25k cheaper. Clearly after driving my friends M3 what you're paying for is life after 100,000 miles.
