    Default Front tire wear

SHEILA is eating her front tires a bit prematurely I think. New shoes arrive Monday morning so she's parked until then.

I'll probably neutralize the camber settings next month if my new set of tires lasts that long.

    *sighs*

I just got new tires, breaks and rotors for the Bonneville recently. I drive hard and I hope I never get a sport car b/c it costs enough just for the upkeep on a sedan

Yep the camber settings are not for long tire mileage. I average about 20K per set of Goodyear eagles and I don't drive it hard at all.

A little camber is always nice, but that is way too excessive. If you didn't check it you could be showing bands on the inside and not know it and still have sufficient tread on the outside.

Oh wait.. it looks like thats actually the case, haha. Good thing you were on top of that. Most people wouldn't have a clue.

Definitely! I always make a walkaround on my car every Sunday morning before Motorweek. I thought I had mild wear on the inside because I turned the wheel right an left and did a spot check and the sections I saw looked worn but not critical. This week I was noticing some vibration in the steering wheel so I got to the garage and pulled off the front wheels to check the bushings and suspension joints then HOLLY SH!+! I saw those massive cups. Gnarly stuff. New Falkens won't be in until mid morning Monday so SHEILA is "grounded" until then.

A part of me hates to pull all the positive camber out of the front wheels because the turn in will suffer but this tire wear is too much. Some input from my auto-forum will probably provide some compromise settings but none will give me the crisp turn in I currently enjoy on SHEILA. When I had my RX7 I used to run my camber settings super positive but a full set of rubber only cost me $400 back then, SHEILA sets me back $1000. And I don't think any of us are rolling in money right now so compromises may be in order.

As I posted in that other GM thread, this is most likely not a camber issue, and you will most likely destroy your new tires. The culprit is more likely "strut rub", caused by failing strut bushings and radius rod bushings. People in your thread on ls2gto are saying the same thing. Take it to your closest Pedders dealership, there are 4 in TX. They do free 28 point inspections. I got my work done at a Pedders dealership in IL.

Here's a link to some TX dealers:

Damn dude, the kuhmos on my car were starting too look like that right before the wreck, which is the reason I got an alignment that morning lol, but they didnt look that bad!!

On another note, how did you like those tires? I just picked up a set for my new ride since Discount tire screwed up and didnt order the Kuhmos I wanted, other than the bad wear, did they last long? what was the grip like?

Which Falkens did you pick up?
