Gah, more "fuel efficient" BS. I can attend on a longer drive, a 4 cylinder won't cut it.
They should go at the Taurus harder:

Don't forget the cost of making the car and the target crowd for it. You're not building a race car, you're building a family sedan where 250/280 is pretty damn good for what it will do.
They could go the Ford way and offer a high performance model with twin turbocharges or a Supercharger for those who wish to spend more $$$$ for more performance, or perhaps they don't forecast such optional model selling at these times, so they said, the hell with performance.
I can get down the road just fine with 220 HP behind a six speed, including dealing with left land bandits and making some not-exactly-legal passes. The truth is that most people drive like sloths so you don't need a tremendous amount of power to be faster than they are. I'd be perfectly happy with this car's power as long as it didn't sound like a hive full of angry bees like a lot of four pots do to me.
My opinion might change if it weighs 4,000 pounds, though.
If you're gonna have Brembos and Recaros then you should be AT LEAST able to keep up with a base Camaro...
Looks like a sweet car but a bit underpowered for something advertised as a hot-rod.
I saw the euro roadtest of this thing, (it's made in Germany) on the ring. They ran a 6 speed stick and an auto. Both cars got north of 140 mph. I don't remember which channel did the test but the car seems competant.
I do agree, a 4000 lbs car with 220 hp is going to be slow as hell.
Power/weight ratio = the name of the game.
Supposed to compete against Lexus and the other Japanese Lux stuff. Audi S4?
We won't get the Vauxhall 6 cyl... Stick the DI 3.6 in it. About 300hp...
