    Default Scangauge

Does anyone here use a scangauge or similar tool? I'm thinking to getting one but at $169 its a bit hard to justify. Any other devices that can do the same job for cheaper?
I just want the ability to read and clear engine codes and track my MPG.

I have used my SGII for about a year now and I like it. I mainly use it for the MPG feature because my fuel gauge is messed up. Its usually accurate to .1 gallons at the pump, so I am happy with it. It does have a problem clearing codes in my Dodge but its pretty rare in most vehicles. I just have to try clearing it several times then it will do it. Its really not a bad tool for the price IMO.

If you're talking about a trouble code reader, Harbor Freight has em much cheaper.

Its much more than a code puller.

It can read various parameters, and show them to you in real time (I think it's up to 4?). A lot of people run them for the MPG feature, both avg and instantaneous gas mileage.

    OK ELVATO, thanks!
I installed one of those a whole bunch of years ago on a Plymouth i had at the time. What a PITA that thing was to install. This was before OEM speed sensors which meant i had to fasten magnets on the drive shaft and mount a sensor to detect em along with another sensor in the gas line to monitor gas flow into the carb.
The thing worked really well though, giving instanateous gas milage, manifold vacuum, ETs, battery voltage, etc.

Aeroforceinterceptor is a around 2" diameter gauge that will show 2 OBD functions and a 3rd that trips the red leds. It's around $250 but you can clear codes on the fly.
