Default CFL testing: STi-R, V1 vs Ka, K, and QT!

cbr and ELVATO have the QT video and are probably still working on it.

Here is a teaser from some of what I have. This was our attempt at finding a course with enough distance/obsticals to test the range on these detectors.
It's long and boring, but you wont' believe how far out the gun was set up.

(and I muted the STi-R at the end to talk on the radio)

    Crazy range. STi-R and V1

    Low Q version..

Needless to say, we had to set up a different test. We parked the radar vehicle behind thick brush and created a radar "ambush" This shortened alert distance, but really cut the capture distance of the radar gun. They said they couldn't get speed readings until cars were on top of them.

Wooowwww! That surely was extraordinary range. Was that 34.7 radar?

I'll try to work on the QT vids tomorrow in between classes.

BTW, the distance comes out to about 2.6 miles. Not bad considering the terrain, and the fact that there was a nice metal fence on the bridge that might have reflected part of the signal. I guess that's what sucks about testing in Florida

Thanks for the videos and effort that went into them.

Taking a few notes on the second/short course video:

    34.7 - Sti-R all segments on, RDR ON , about the same response w/V1 & Sti-R.
    34.7 - Sti-R 2,5,8 ON RDR ON - has a 4 to 5 second advantage over the V1.
    34.7 - Sti-R 2,5,8, ON, RDR OFF - still about a 4 - 5 second advantage over the V1.

35.5 - both about the same regardless of segment settings or RDR settings on the Sti-R.

K-band - 7 to 8 second advantage for the Sti-R, which is kind of significant given the short course IMO.

I've seen some comments about the weakness of the V1 on 35.5, but at least on this day, and on this setup, the V1 came off pretty good. Looks like on 34.7 that turning off band segments on the STi-R made some difference, but RDR on or off didn't have much effect. The Sti-R had the most advantage on K-band seems like.

Again, good job, thanks for putting in the work.

    Thanks.

I have seen the STi-R beat the V1 on 35.5 by a significant margin in a few real-world encounters. I am guessing the setup "cut" the 35.5 signal (more than the others) to nothing past the point where I was picking it up.

The K band difference was shocking to me. Before getting the STi-R, my V1 was the undisputed "king" of K-band out of all the RD's I had ever owned. (see sig)

    The STi-R simply pwn3d the V1 on K-band.

More to come from this test, once ELVATO gets the QT videos up.
