X50 & Cell Phone Towers

I would 1st off like to say that I love the my Escort 8500 X50, I think the detection is hands
down better than any radar detector I have ever owned. Here's my quick question and maybe some of you guys can help.

Everyday I drive by this Auto Zone and my K band gives me 1 or 2 bars ( In City Mode ).
I get the same about of bars in ( hwy mode ) but can pick it up from a greater distance.
Last time I passed the building I looked carfully and didn't see any automatic doors but did see
a Cell Phone tower right beside the building. Could the Cell Phone Tower be setting off K band on my detector?

Also, it seems most of the super markets set off K now, which is strange because I figured this would only be in the X band. Are super markets going into the K band now?

I have seen supermarkets with both X and K band. Best Buy always has K band from my experience. I actually encountered a garage door that was K band the other day as well. A lot of times banks will give off K band.

I have never seen a cell phone tower give off K band, but it might be possible..not really sure.

Also remember that construction zones and other areas using Safety Warning System will be displayed as K band on the escort. A lot of people don't get those but I get a lot over here in mass.

Well, it's been doing this for sometime now and there is no constrution in sight. The only thing I can assume is causing this is the Cell Tower. I have to admit X band never really falses while in city mode but K band falses a good bit around Automatic doors no mater what mode I have it in. I live in NC so All bands including Laser is used in my state. They use X alot in NC and I know this for a fact because I have a friend thats a State trooper. He said they keep the old guns around because everyone thinks X is fading out.

Anyways, I never get any other falses beside K. I wish they would design a Lo K option. Yes this would be dangerous but for someone who's around alot of K leakage it would be nice.

Radar is limited to specific frequency bands, as are cell phones.

My guess is that despite the fact you can't see a door opener at Autozone, there is indeed one at that location or a near by business, and that's what is setting your detector off, and not the cell phone tower.

Yeah, you could be right on that. It's not really a big deal though since it's constant and always happens in the same place and distance. I do still however keep my eyes open everytime I pass it. You never know when smokey the bear will use it to his advantage....

I keep it on the mode so that I can see multiple radar threats at the same time. Very useful.

I frequently have to park within 50 yards of a Verizon tower and I don't get any falses on it.

I normally got X alerts if any from towers... though normally only the huge ones by the highway. Luckily I normally have X turned off since its not in most of the areas I frequent.
