Default K Band / Leo Shooting Angle Question

I was driving down a small road late tonight and a LEO sitting completely sideways shooting K band nailed me with constant on. When I say sideways I mean like a T. He was shooting directly at my door when I passed him. I didn't think radar worked in this manor. I have always been told that they have to be at a certain angle not sideways. Also when I passed him my X50 never went full alert it just showed 4 bars. Is this normal and can they issue a ticket in this position. thanks.

could have been using VASCAR (spelling?) basically a glorified stopwatch that times you between two points on the road and derives your speed from how quickly you traveled between said points (hence being perpendicular to you), may have just been coincidence that he had his radar on.

Did you get a ticket? What does it say on it? Usually tickets are marked with the clocking method used: radar, laser, pacing, etc.

Could you see the radar gun itself? Was it aimed out the front windshield of the cruiser, or did he aim it sideways toward you? Also, he could have used laser on you.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

I would agree but it was pitch dark on a Back Road in a small little town. The only reason why I even saw him was because he was under a small street light that leads to a trucking company. I was getting one or two beeps while approching so I started looking around for a leo. It wasn't in a normal falsing area so I knew something was up and this had to be a real source. Can they use vascar at night? If so, we have a new treat that I wasn't aware of.

I'm glad to say I didn't get a ticket but was a little worried because it took me awhile to spot him. I didn't see his gun because it was very dark and it was inside his cruiser but i do know that they use freq 24.132 if that helps with gun idenification. As I passed it looked as if the gun was pointed straight ahead and not towards me until I crossed his path directly infront of him.

He wouldn't have gotten your speed with the radar aimed that way. He was probably just doing paperwork, or watching traffic, without checking for speed, but left the radar on anyway.

the gun may have been on by coincidence (forgot to turn it off or didn't care); he may have been watching for speeders & then pull out, confirm with his radar, & then snag ya. Or he might have been picking sprinkles or wiping jelly off of his shirt. Or he didn't want to go home to his abusive wife...

having too much fun with this.

That's what I was hoping on........ He didn't have the light on in the cabin so that's why I was a little worried as I passed.

    Default orbital

Orbital, I have seen this tactic and the same thing happened to me while using my X50. Interesting!
