and this... I wont deny it, I was thinking about it selling the rev5 for a rev 6.1, but in the end my better judgement (and of course my wallet ) said NO

    Default All in all

All i know is they sure as hell need to make upgrades more reasonalble and cheaper!! And this would be a better way for the average consumer to upgrade not everybody has 500 bucks every 3 months lol sorry escort us american's are paying way to much in gas prices geeshhh!!! Anyhow back to point ya maybe we can find our own way to upgrade and somebody can come out with an attachment to rig in there ..?? Then we could maybe do our own upgrades!! LOL FUNNY

THEY DON"T WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM WE WILL!!!

I for one would consider the ability of field upgrades, and a history of releasing upgrades to be a big factor in determining what I buy.

I remember Escort's ad's saying the processor in the 8500 could be updated. But have they released an update? (other than the x50, which was a new product)

So the ability to do it, minus the updates means nothing to me.

or they could do it like a Sim card chip that you use for your cell this way you could just buy the chip and not the have to buy a completely new detector or be without one for sometime..or do something with bluetooth connection with your computer...

    Default Ummm

I agree with feild upgrades which im sure you all know its just that the blue tooth is so fuc8ing expensive why would you even say that just go usb ... its cheap its small and do able or like an sd card for a digital camera also cheap small and do able the blue tooth is like a 300 dollar peice of equipment thats outragous hell if i wanted to do that id just buy a new detector lol??? So good thinking but that would be pointless its too expensive which is what we are trying to get away from the expense of have to get a new 300 dollar unit each time or send in at 87 bucks to get upgrades ....Thats what we are trying to eliminate here... USB is the diffinetive answer as you can pick up a 512 mb pny USB jump drive for like just under 20 bucks these days that would seem much more do able and reasonable.. Then just download the upgrades onto the jump drive and upload them into the detector via a firewire//USB SLOT simple as that just click on your computer icon to upgrade just like a antivirus deal to download the newest software onto the USB jump drive it could be so simple..... WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO JOIN THE 21ST CENTURY???

WILL IT BE BEL WILL IT BE ESCORT WILL IT BE VALENTINE ONE??

nobody knows my bet goes to V1 though

^^ Jesus. That was damn near incomprehensible.

Personally, I don't want a Radar Detector with a USB port. At the moment, my guess is that there is RS232 Serial communications in the 'upgradable' units. Haven't had mine open to check.

Other than us few hundred Radar Detector nerds on this board i doubt anyone ever even thinks to check what firmware is on the detector let alone upgrading it. I mean come on, how many "normal" people upgrade the firmware on something like a radar detector?

When was the last time you upgraded the firmware on say your digital camera, your video recorder, your TV, your car's onboard computer?

Not saying I would not upgrade, I'm just saying I doubt there is enough demand from more than just a handful of people.

x2, like me, im content with my Rev5 X50, I dont need to spend another dolar to get a rev6.1 an X50 is an X50, there are minor differences between revisions, thats it
