Default My escort 8500 X50 was the JOKE of the convoy :-(

As you may already know PSL, Quattro, Mouse, Mazda3, and myself did some laser jammer testing this last weekend. So here we have this convoy of 4 vehicles zipping through town and on the highway. Every single time my Escort X50 was the very last to alert any radar and in some cases the unit completely failed to alert when the other 3 detectors in the other cars got a blip. We had GMRS/FRS radios so that's how I knew. My escort X50 was many seconds late it seemed compared to the other detectors....

For the rest of the trip the guys gave me a hard time about using a Cobra...I mean X50 ;-) The point of this story is if you don't get a V1 get an RX65.

And the firmware shouldn't make a difference because according to Escort and Bel it doesn't make a difference in detector performance.

I agree that based on my personal experiences the X50 would be the last on my list when choosing a detector out of the top 4. STi or V1 are the best, then RX65. After owning an X50, I wish I never did as I was expecting more performance from it than my orignal 8500 against the 35.5 Ka around here. I was let down because I got less protection when I switched to the X50. So I stopped using the X50, siwtched back to the original 8500 and then I got an STi. All is good with the STi which is an excellent radar detector.

I got rid of my V1 because I couldn't justify(at the time) spending $440.00 on a system that didn't seem to get better detection then my old X50(the one I have now.) Plus my V1 had ghosting problems, the laser detection arrows were reversed, and I on top of that the falsing was driving me crazy. I'm going to go back to the v1 as soon as Mike fixes his bugs.

p.s. I sold my V1 on Ebay to some idiot that paid full price for it lol. I didn't lose a single dime. Why do people pay so much for used V1's when they can just buy them new? Will never understand it.....
