    Default HELP ON HARDWIRE !

Instead of hardwiring it into a fuse. I basically replaced the coil cord with a telephone cord RJ11 and still using the cig . Apparently it's not working. I solder the colors together and used the whole 12ft cord. Is it because my cord is too long? Or the original 8500 and the X50 wiring colors are different ?

my negative wire is green... and the X50 is black ( http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec102.shtml )

I wouldve used a bridge, hide the coiled wire and add on a straight cord to go to the X50, as for RJ-11s, if you look at 1 side and line it up against the other, the colors reverse magically inside the wire, so I'd try reversing it for now

i used the matching rj11 with the escorts cord to connect to the 8500...

what do you mean by reversing?

    Default careful

Careful w/ those X50 smartcords. I just had one go totally out and the other, both LEDS stopped working. Strangely enough, on the 2nd one, it still powered the unit, but wouldn't mute it either . At least I have a 3rd unit that works fine .

Don't think that Best Buy offers them, but I haven't checked in a long time. If you have to order one anyways, why not order from Roy since he does run the forum and all? It's the same price and Roy's customer service is top-notch.
