I don't quite follow you on this. I think you meant to say Tech and Threat mode in places where you have said Expert mode? Anyway, I think that CJR, when mentioning locking out one source, means to say that that he is locking out one door opener source which consists of a pair of transmitters.
Your STi does not have expert mode where it detects multiple sources in one band. This is the difference between Bel and Escort units. Tech mode in Bel units and spec mode in escort units for frequency display.

If you can look for the patent of the expert mode, it will be great.

When you say one source, it does not mean a pair of transmitters.

It does this when you are hit with 35.5 kustom radar guns with only one antenna working. This has been discuss before in the forum which i brought up and you can search it. You can also get this reading when there are 2 Ka radar frequencies say 34.7 and 35.5. If there are 2 34.7 or 2 35.5, it will only show 1 bogey even though in reality there was 2.

The 9500i does count the number of detected signals within each 30MHz block, regardless of what the voice announcements say.

Woops! You are right. Escort has reserved the Expert mode exclusively for their Escort branded radar detectors. I will search for any related patents and will list them if I find any.
