Default NJ I-78 Confirmed LASER Save

While heading back home to Pennsyltucky from a day visit in NYC, I was painted hard by NJSP on I78 west bound near exit 20. It scared the s-h-i-t out of me. Thank gawd for using a rabbit. If I were hangin out there, I would have been nabbed. Did I mention that this was a NIGHT hit! It was pitch dark at about 10:00pm. I figure the 8500 picked up "scatter" on the rabbit and did its job. No ticket.

PS: Was about 20mph over the PSL. 85 in a 65 zone

Remember, always use a Rabbit!!! Otherwise, you are flying partially blind.

That's one crazy detection man! I actually haven't read a post yet of a laser scatter detection. Very nice!

Actually, any save with a detector when LEO is using laser is scatter. They hit the car(s) in front of you and the detector picks it up. If you are hit, you are dead, just like instant on/off radar. This happened twice last summer in Delaware. I was over the PSL and the only reason I was saved can be attributed to the "rabbit".

I wonder if its harder for the LEO to target individual cars at night using laser. He/she might not be able to see the license plate to aim at it. Maybe they just try and hit you between the headlights or something.

It's nice to hear the X50 can actually detect laser. I have serious doubts about my own.

My X50 is mounted up on my RVM and I have been getting great LASER detection. Of course the LEO is reading my speed, but thats why I keep it within 5mph of PSL on the highway. Lidar is deadly and I'm not risking it.

However, I have always been successful in getting a LASER alert at a range of 1/2 mile and under.

It can. I've had one laser hit (and one miss which was a ticket) in mine so far.

My mount is a custom bracket designed for a 350z from, I recall, Country Craft. Google it. They make them for other cars. It is tight underneath the rearview mirror. The power supply is from the power mirror using the Invisicord.

Remember, always have a rabbit if you are over the PSL!!! Rabbits save IMHO.
