Default Need help! Wanna make sure the 8500 X50 is working...

    Hi everyone,

I've had mine for a week already and I haven't got ONE single signal yet, not even a false one. Is there any way I can test it to see if its working? I've heard about people using TV remote controls but that doesn't trigger mine off. I also have a green laser, unfortunately when I point it at the detector nothing happens either...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Go to CVs or Walmart and drive close to the doors.

First the obvious. Doe's it have power. I would do a full reset, turn on scanning dots. Then does it go thru a full start up with sound and scanning dots moving. If all that is OK, go find a known false.

Ah,, and don't be speeding till you check it out cause you are guaranteed to find Mr. Leo this way.

The relatively new Walmart in my town uses K band automatic door openers.

    smash it with a hammer.

Seriously though, go to a super market with the automatic doors that have the motion sensors above the door, do this after you do a factory reset and that should give you an alert.

I just got a 8500 x50 as well, and i don't know if it's working: i live by a supermarket with automatic doors, but only when i am about 100-300 feet away from it do i get a k-band reading... is this normal? shouldn't the detection be farther?

i have it on highway mode; even POP is enabled!

Nope. Supermarket door openers point straight down to the ground. Their range is super unpredictable. A speed sign is a better way to test your RD, if you know where one is. They can also be somewhat unpredictable , but not near as bad as store door openers.
