whats with the V1 Zombies on YouTube?

is it me, or are 9 out of 10 of the youtube videos for the Escort 9500i detectors bashing them and raving for V1? one with a very obvious V1 on mute (you can see it going crazy with alerts) and the Escort NOT on mute. He's whining that it has too many falses and the V1 remains silent. Little does he mention that 9500i will lock these falses out once and for all if desired...but the V1 will ALWAYS alert to them.

I know V1 has a great reputation (I researched them a long time before buying my X50), and the arrows are a cool addition - but ****, is it REALLY that important to know which way the signal is coming from? When you get an alert - generally you hit the brakes - and you're NEVER completely sure of WHERE the threat is until you lay your own eyes on it. Do you continue at the speed you're going to determine if the threat is ahead or behind, or do you slow down immediately? The V1 has extreme sensitivity perhaps slightly stronger than the 9500i (which is good with real threats and horrible with falses) and the fact of the matter is that I want a detector thats good for ALL OCCASIONS...not just highway.
If my commute all the time consisted of jumping on the highway, and being on it for a full commute never passing through possible falses...I guess I'd buy a V1...but in the real world thats not likely. At some point you're going to go get gas...at some point you'll go get groceries....etc. etc. etc.

A LOT of most peoples driving is in city type areas (thats why its a city cuz is congested) which means tons of sources of false alerts...and only the 9500i has the ability to filter them out for good. That means an extremely accurate sensitive detector full of smart capabilities that can be used at ALL times regardless of Highway or City driving. I wouldnt want the HASSLE nor the COST of using two different detectors...that's why I went with the overall best performance and capabilities (IMHO) with the 9500i. Plus - not sure how V1 customer service is, but ESCORT has been amazing for me.

I mean I'd like to have both - the GPS capabilities to lock out the annoyances, and the arrows to know the direction.......but since they don't have both in one detector...why are these people so stuck on V1?

I don't know how these tools type so much smack when V1's d!ck is in their mouth.

Can't you see multiple threats with expert mode on the Escort? And thats kind of a moot point when comparing it to the x50 because the 9500i has the lock out features that I'm talking about that make it such a valuable detector.

The 9500i and X50 can detect multiple threat to a certain degree like detecting a K and Ka at the same time or multiple Ka band in different frequencies/brands. The 9500i and X50 has a design flaw when trying to detect 2 or 3 radar sources with the same or close frequency. It will show only show 1 bogey in this scenario. It also shows double bogey with only 1 radar source when encountering 35.5 Ka band. In fact, I just did a test yesterday and took video's last night. Here is the link to my post.

A - It happens 80-90 percent of the time depending on how close you get to the radar source. If you always get close enough, it's 99.9% to 100%.

B - The V1 does not have this problem. It can easily detect 2 radar sources with the same frequency.

I meant how often do you see that exact frequency that causes the problem?

except for having a quiet detector that's still excellent at detecting real threats?


It'd be nice to have the counter and arrows - but they fall a distant 2nd to a quiet detector that is still just as quick to pick up real threats. When I get an alert all I care about is that its a legit threat of a ticket; at which point I slow the F down...and don't breath a sigh of relief until I've SEEN with my eyes WHERE the threat is, and the warning signal subsides.

enjoy your V1, I used a guys at work for a week and was so tired of putting it on Mute for falses that by the end of the week I didnt even plug it in the last day. To own it for a month I'd surely have completely tuned out any warnings from it since its a constant annoyance. Worse than the X50 for falses.

I could either leave it muted - and hope to see the alert - which I imagine is the only way to tolerate it....or get a great detector with the ability to phase out falses in everyday driving.

if u program the v1 the right way (esp if ur able to turn off x) its a pretty quiet RD..and u can shoot all 3 bands of radar and hit with my laser and i will no everything thats going on and from which direction
