Default 9500CI Auto Learn Let me Down BIG TIME

Well today I had a really close call with my 9500CI locking out ANOTHER REAL K band signal from a LEO who was running CO K band on the highway. I travel this highway about once a week and the cop is there about 25% of the time. Well for some reason the 9500CI decided to lock out this LEO who was operating constant on K band shoulder bound (Lyndale, Ohio). Luckily because of rain and I was not speeding. I no longer believe it Auto Learn so I turned this feature off. I am extremely disappointed.
RIP Duncan my BELOVED black lab son 8/7/99-3/23/11. I will miss you DEARLY.

Clarify this for me, if you turn off autolock on the ix and ci, can you still manually lock out locations like with the 9500i?

Thats a real bummer... I don't blame you at all for turning off the auto option and manually locking out false alerts. This technology is still a work in progress IMO, and I trust myself more then any detector: aka good choice on the manual lock.

I wonder what Escort will say when you call them.

Scary. Do you think the newer 9500ix has the same auto-learn feature or is it new and improved? I know people had some trouble using the manual lock-out on the 9500i. I haven't heard any complaints with the ix. You guys have some great detection but that lockout has me a little worried. I was thinking of getting an ix but now I may wait a bit.

If they have improved the auto-lockout on the newer models, maybe send in your control box for a good flashing.?

Unhappy Re: 9500CI Auto Learn Let me Down BIG TIME

I've seen this happen first hand with the 9500i with a locked out k band and heard of similar incidents with the 9500ix. till there is more R & D on the autolearn i will run autolearn off.

happya$$: You are either the best tester for Auto Learn or have the worst luck with the system. I'm glad you switched back to manual control, but by the sounds of it, Auto Learn really needs some more sorting out.

    ^ +1.

I think that AutoLearn does need some more AI - either that, or to revert back to full-manual.

The problem is again one of scenarios, but this one, unlike CJR's, is unique, and I think requires more than a little revamp/input.

As everyone here knows, I've been avoiding (sorry for the terminology, that's not exact, but still, in shows the "strength" of my personal preference, so I'll let it stand) the upgrade to the ix, from my 4307 i, because of several different reasons, but AutoLearn, as it would be implemented specifically where I live and commute, would be a problem.

I'll set up this example for y'all:

On my daily commute, I cruise through a 40 MPH posted-limit area where there is nearly always one strong "false" K-band signal that's due to PARKED police cruisers.

Despite my admittedly heavy use of TrueLock, in "High Risk" areas (per CJR's "threat scenarios" - and yes, I chose to utilize my 9500i in this manner, specifically along my usual routes of travel, as I do not speed through such areas, and furthermore, the quiet from the detector allows me a much more sane commute), I have refrained from locking out this particular area due to the VERY high possibility of seeing another enforcement vehicle within the lock-out diameter, in an area where I actually may decide to occasionally bump up against - and over - the PSL.

Although this situation is not nearly as complicated as the one described by happya$$, it would still demonstrate a problem with AutoLearn, in that the feature, should it be enabled, would have certainly locked-out this location due to my driving habits through said area: sticking to-PSL, without slowing - as a part of my near-everyday commute.

    ^ All that said.

Hey, happya$$, what the HECK are you thinking - even remotely speeding through Lindale!
