Whats the difference between the 9500i and 9500ix??
ix has redlight and speed camera alerts
9500ix has redlight camera/speedtrap loactions stored in its database. It also has the autolearn feature that automatically locks out false alerts when you pass a location with a false three times. 9500i does not have these features. 9500i, however, allows you to lock out false alert locations manually by pressing the mute buttom three times.
Don't forget, the 9500i now is only in red, while the 9500ix is only in blue.
Its in the 9500I/ix sticky. Full details are there.
If your asking because you're debating between them, let me tell you my story. I bought the 9500i to save the money. 3 months later I was selling it and buying the IX so I'd recomend spending the extra. Autolearn is a very nice and I feel that the database (or another device like Cheeta mirror) will become necesity when traveling as I expect cameras to spread like wildfire as Cities look to fill budget shortfalls.
So I heavily recomend the IX if thats why your asking. If you buy the IX and don't want autolearn or the database you can turn them off, but if you buy the I you can't turn autolearn or the camera database on.
That said I should also admit that I'm going to get rid of my IX. After getting used to it I ended up jumping for the 9500ci and love the extra range that it offers.
I believe that the price different between the i and the ix is low for what you get. Just think. The price different in just the red and blue is $40 alone, then add speed cameras and auto learn and it seems to me the ix is the better value.
