Is there a mode to auto-on the RD units from escort? Particulary Redcline?

As in, my cig lighter power source goes to zero when my key is out of the car, and re-fires when on. Does the RD auto-ON, or is it always a manual operation?

Hardwire is probably the only way for auto-on.

I don't have a redline but auto on works fine for the 8500 and 9500 models. They turn on when the car is turned on.

Yes, Redline "remembers" if it is on or off when power is cut. If it was on when you cut power, it'll go on when you re-apply power. So it'll work fine for you.

I believe the same is true for all current and recent-past Bel/Escort models. My RX65 works the same way, and of course the 8500 series use a thumbwheel switch so of course they will "remember".

Can't speak for the redline, but the 9500i I have remebers its power state. If left connected to a switched power source and left on when the power i actually turned off, it will turn itself back on when power is applied again/
