Serial Number on X50?

Guys, I'm returning my 8500 X50 to ESCORT today for service ("service required" message and extended LASER falses during hot weather) and typically note the S/N on my instructions to them. Upon inspection of my unit, I see there is no serial number or label on the unit. There is a indentation on the bottom of the unit where a label might sit? Is there going to be an issue with them if they can't read a serial number? I am the original owner and the unit has never been serviced before.

Also, she is suggesting that I return the original power cord which I've never used. Has there been a problem with these?

Did you buy it used, off eBay or something? Or did the label fall off?

They should still repair it though (but for a fee since there won't be a warranty).

As for the power cord, maybe they think the laser falses are caused by a problem with it. Usually when you send a detector into Escort for repair they send you a new cord with it anyway.

There's no evidence that there was any label on the unit ever, nor does it appear one has been removed? Did it fall off I dunno.

I'll send them the cord along with the unit even though it's never been used.

OK, they'll work on it for $100 (vs. $60) and issue a new label with Serial Number if actually needed. I would think they could read the S/N electronically when they interface with the device.

I'm not keen on throwing $100 at this unit, but maybe it's a sound investment based on what I could purchase with the $100 in the store ...and I've got a 7500S already sitting on the shelf in similar condition

BTW, I did buy this unit on eBay probably 6 or 8 years ago. I've had it quite a while and this guy is a major ESCORT re-seller. I never realized 'til now there was no S/N

Yeah, I've got everything for it. I'll check later today. I'll look for the S/N on the box. Everything appeared to be brand new.

I checked both Escort boxes (7500S and X50) and neither show a S/N. The 7500S does have a serial number label on the underside.

How car there be so many unathorized Escort re-sellers? How do these units enter the marketplace? And, no, I don't believe they're all stolen. Some of these re-sellers have been selling for years without anyone stopping them.

Unauthorized sales are more profitable, the makers don't have to do any warranty work on those units.

It's curious how there can be so many units fitting this status without the mfr's full knowledge
