Default Truelock and Leo must read!

I know there has been alot of discussion about the 9500ix and truelock. Let me tell you about my encounter. On my way to work this morning I was coming up on an intersection I had locked out. All of a sudden the ix alerted to multiple signals. No big deal. It's done this before in expert mode. I then look at the ix and it is showing k band alert. And sure enough there he was. A county leo running k band. This put the biggest smile on my face. Truelock and leo, ix alerting to multiple signals. I have always been a little leary of truelock but this puts me at ease a little. Will still be cautious though.

    WAY TO GO!!!

Good catch. There are 2 things that helped you out. Number one is you understood the 9500ix's Truelock feature. That is great but a very important thing happened and it was probably the most significant event, you knew your location.

The "multiple signals detected" voice alert is the bomb. It really sets the 9500ix apart.

X2. Very smart use of the 9500ix. When it works its very impressive.

Sounds like everyone here read my TrueLock sticky.

By far the one of the best features, and certainly gets your attention more than any other.

Truelock is a great feature, the user just has to be familar with it so that they don't get caught off guard. There is always some responsibility with the user to determine whether or not the radar alert is an actual leo. on the other hand, if you have truelock, you need to be aware of where your detector typically alerts and be on guard when you reach that location. Truelock is a good feature because if it alerts, you know it's probably a leo.

Now was the frequency locked out a different segment of K band than the LEO? or was it X band? If it was K band, this is truly impressive.

I decided to give autolearn a try the other week and turned it on to lock out some falses on I-476 near philly (Lots of K band falses). Then after a few days, the road was completely locked out, then I decided to take a cruise just before Veteran's day. 4 real confirmed encounters, no falses. One was even a different segment of K band right next to a previously locked out speed sign.

I know using autolearn is dangerous in this situation, since i'm locking out K band in an area where K band is used for enforcement, but the way I think about it is radar detectors are all about statistics to being with (you're betting the LEO will clock someone else within range before he clocks you) I think of truelock and autolearn as just adding another slight possibility that you might miss an alert, with the benefit of almost completely eliminating false alerts.

Besides, it will do a much better, and faster job at segmenting out falses vs. real alerts by frequency than I would be able to do via specmode. And autolearn seems to set very conservative lockout radiuses (radii?)

In conclusion, I think it's more likely that I would shrug off a real alert as a false without using truelock, rather than using truelock and having it falsely lock out a LEO. So, no it's not foolproof, but it does the best it can, and it's better than what I can do on my own using spec display, and it's much faster.

Are you guys saying in Expert Mode you'll get audible voice about Multiple Alerts?

Yes. If you have your 9500ix in Expert Meter and there is more than one signal (it has to be a different frequency for it to see it as a different signal), it will verbally say "Multiple Frequencies Detected".

If there is a previously locked out a false there, and it detects a second (different) signal, it will also say "Multiple Frequencies Detected", and then it will alert to ALL signals being detected (including the one that was previously locked out).
