Traffic & Light Cams Detect Only Once?

I have a 9500ix.

The case here is only before updating my Detector Tools and doing the software and location updates today. 12/8/09

Yesterday in Rome GA I approached a traffic or red light runner camera from the south and it alerted.

Upon returning to this intersection from the east and west directions it did not. Will the updates fix this?

that is normal, why would it alert to the camera when it is not pointing in your direction, so it is not a threat to you?

OK, so the cameras (sender and reciever?) are looking cross ways. If I had went back through from the north should it have alerted?

Yes it would alert if you were going in the same direction as it was before. If 1 camera is facing the oncoming north bound traffic it will only alert to that direction. Like what languy99 said "why would it alert to the camera when it is not pointing in your direction".
