Auto-Mode (sensitivity) on 8500 X50

I am currently running my x50 as my 9500 is at Escort being upgraded. I know how the Auto mode works on the 9500i/ix/ci. It uses the vehicles speed to determine sensitivity. But can anyone explain to me how Auto mode works on the x50? It does not have any method of determining the speed, so what constitutes the decision on sensitivity on the x50?

It looks for paired falses and filters them initially.

i've never been sure on this myself...does it just filter X-band? Because I have heard others on here mention that it can lower sensitivity on K and Ka as well.

It doesn't effect KA at all, just X & K depending on the units age. Auto mode is much better now than what it was with older Escorts like the 8500.

When you say it is better do you mean it does a better job of filtering out false or did the older versions actually suffer decreased k sens vs real threats in auto mode? Could you possibly tell me what sw version your running that has better auto? I need to check the sw version on my x50. It's my backup (aka: wife's RD) but if it is pretty outdated maybe I should send it in for the $60 tune up as I would assume they would update it with the latest version in the process. I don't know when it was originally purchased as I bought it from a friend second hand.

I thought all X50s only filter X band pairs?

Mem-TEK did some tests a few years back resulting in K band filtering. The 9500 series definitely does filter X & K.
