Default Redline extra sensitivty help to detect I/O hits of cars in front (low volume traffic

    I just ordered a Redline.

I have read about the large amount of falsing with the Redline. It makes sense of course given the extra sensitivity of the Redline of course, although the 9500i is more sensitive than my 8500 X50 and the former still issues FAR less alerts even on H mode and with the GPS filter off.

I have been spoiled by my 9500i's amazing lack of falsing (even without using TruLock since I have read enough reports of it locking out a real LEO in the same radius).

I ordered the Redline partly because I love having something that will give me extended radar detection range - verdict is still out on its laser performance) and partly to have the latest and greatest (at least in terms of detection sensitivity).
I drive 90% of my daily 86+ mile round trip commute on the highways, with almost all of the highway portion being the NJ GSP) so I hope it will help there.

I figure, even though the 9500i has enough range for most situations, that the Redline could be of value as follows:
It could help detect I/O hits on cars (rabbits etc.) in front of you where you might miss the alert if using the 9500i due to extra sensitivity of the Redline.
I am especially thinking of low traffic volume situations, especially on the highway, at night where the rabbit might be
    far ahead of you.

Has anyone thought about this (part in bold) as one reason the Redline could come in handy where the 9500i could fail to alert due to lower sensitivity?
I would love to get a consensus on this line of thought from other Redline / 9500i users.

I plan to use the Redline for my daily mostly-highway commute (hopefully it won't false too much given how much I have been spoiled by the 9500i) and pan to use the 9500i when I have passengers and am mostly in town.

I guess I have 30 days to make up my mind.

I've thought about it. It's exactly why I got it. Interstate driving, and I need great range. The cars in front of me can draw the hits. I'll detect them and slow down.

    Thanks Eric!
I posted this on escortradar forums as well.

It seems this (detecting I/O hits on rabbits in front of you) is indeed the most useful aspect of the extremely high Redline sensitivity, since, as someone else noted as well, CO is usually easy enough to detect well enough in advance with the 9500i.
However, guess over the hill, off axis and around the curve traps / encounters are other areas where having the Redline might help provide added detection time that could help.

Someone also suggested mounting both the 9500i and the Redline simultaneously on the windshield and then using some sort of toggle switch idea...
I love that idea and will look into it.

Cruiser66. I went from a 9500ix to a Redline a while ago. I can tell you that the Redline blows the 9500ix (which is just an upgraded 9500i) out of the water. Before I got sent out here, my daily commute consisted of a lot of highway driving. I put 25,000 miles on my 2010 tuck in less than 1 year with the Redline, and it was great at detecting I/O shots on rabbits in front of me. The off axis/over the hill sensitivity is really where the Redline shines. The Redline did NOT false considerably more than the 9500ix. I don't know where you got that information from, but it has not been my experience. Yes, it is much more sensitive on all bands, but no, I did not get an excessive amount of falsing. If K band is not a threat in your area, run Auto mode to reduce K band falsing.

Redline seems to be a great detector.

I was quite impressed with mine today. Had a 4+ mile 34.7 Ka alert on the freeway with hills and turns. Too bad he was going the other way!
