    Default new 9500ix issues

Alright, so I got my limited edition 9500ix about a week ago, and have been driving with it since. I took my first test drive and spotted 2 leos, both from great ranges. So I quickly concluded that the detector was working as should. However, over the past week, I've been getting suspicious of malfunction.

It started with a few silent passes, I naturally figured there were a few leos out without radar running. But as I kept encountering police with no warning from the unit I became worried. In fact, the majority of alerts I receive are either false or have been coming from leos not on my road.

My unit actually gave the first alert I could confirm yesterday, about a 1/10 detection rate of leos I passed. However after passing pack of 3 Arkansas troopers sitting and obviously on duty on the interstate, I knew something was funny. This morning I went on another test drive. I passed a mobile leo, one on his perch, and two more with customers, all with no warning and two other alerts I could not find the sources to. So I'm looking for any ideas or solutions you guys might have before I send the unit back to get checked out. My unit is well mounted and all bands on. Thanks

If they are aiming a handheld device at you then they are most probably using LIDAR laser. Laser emits a focused beam which, depending on your mounting location, you may not detect. Mounting the detector lower is better for detecting laser as they aim for your headlights and front plate. Laser gets your speed nearly instantly so even with an alert it is probably too late. Laser jammers or joining the Escort Live nation are two defenses against laser.

If you are receiving false alerts (or the satellite icon is spinning to show that it is rejecting falses) then it is most probably detecting radar just fine.
