The power outlet in my SUV is buried in the center console, it's a PITA to see it at all.
I called Escort and they said no plans yet to have a hardwired version, so anyways - has anyone converted their adapter to be hardwired instead?

I ordered my x50 Black yesterday with Live. My intent is to do a "loose hardwire" until the official cable is released in a couple months.
Just going to run the 6 strand phone cable from my headliner down to one of my 12v outlets. I have a hidden outlet in my center console, so I'll probably pop a hole in there, and bring the cable through that hole, leaving the coil in the console with the straight through adapter accessible so I can easily remove the coiled cord and move to another car. Don't care about the visual on the cord, since I have my phone mounted in an easily accessible location.
Will be getting the Blendmount to drop the detector in the most heavily used car from the rear view. The wire will come out of the front of the headliner and plug in so I don't have wires running all over my dash.
When the hardwire kits comes out, I'll hopefully wire it in permanently, use one of the punch outs in my switch area that is unused.
Parts needed to stealth you LIVE cord:
If you dont have a convenient cig outlet you can get one of these:
Using a duel female 6 pin phone adapter if more wire needs to be added:
And phone line cable extension (6 pin, and length needed):
All would be safe/easy and not void the warranty.
Vid of my final install:
thanks - i didn't realize there was a factory forum too
Awesome!!! Gona need a new redline with that. Can't wait!
Two local Radio Shacks didn't have the 6 pin cables. Looking online, one vendor has them listed as either "reverse" for voice, or "straight" for data. Is there a difference, i.e. which one should I get?
Thanks!
