Escort x50 False Alerts

Hello. I just bought the x50 but I'm getting extreme false alerts on the K BAND.. The X Band is not irritating at all for me but that's not the case with the K Band where I get a false alert every 5 minutes, especially when I'm under a highway or at an intersection.. and I haven't heard of anybody having the same problem.

Sounds like it may have a tuning problem. I had that with one I had. Where did you get it? I would exchange it. Welcome to the board.

No that is odd behavior, except some places have Kband drones, and the X50 is also rather sensative to other (crappy) detectors, and can false the X50 (often on Ka though with POP on)... you can also pick up stray door openers...


I know a few places on the highway where my X50 will go wild on the K band, and its a hotels (automatic) doors.

I bought it on ebay.. it is supposed to be brand new and It looks brand new.. The box and everything else was in perfect condition...
I don't even have the POP band ON. I'm going to try to contact escort to see if they can replace it for another one, what do you guys say? Do you guys think that my escort has some tuning problems or are these K Band False alerts normal?
Do you think I'm going to have problems with Escort considering that I don't have a receipt because I bought it on ebay?

Oh no, EBAY, now all the speculation comes out. You never know what circumstances a unit ended up on eBay. What area do you live in, it may be a area that has K band drones. That would be your simplest answer.

Unless someone familar with the area can confirm the existance of drones, can you inquire about a refund, if not a refund, then at least an exchange.

Drones have been eluded to in use in many areas, as mentioned in this thread, at the very least it gives a good possibility that if at least one area of Texas uses them, others are not that far behind if not already using them, but only those familar specifically in your area can confirm this.

he was asking me before if i had a video cam to record some vids because he was interested in meeting up and recording fort worth school bus drones

he could have borrowed it from someone else
