    Lightbulb Hello from Carbondale, Co.

I commute from Carbondale to Aspen every day to work, I literally go through 3 different counties and realize that the eagle county sheriff cars are tough Mo'Fos, with my 8500 x50 it's hard to detect them, with my V1 I have better chances of detecting them, but the LEOs from that specific county turn off their radars 50% of the time, 25% is I/O and the other 25% is some kind of radar measurement that even the V1 it's having a hard time to detect, any ideas or tips for the detection??

they could be lidar guns they are using, that will make your detectors hard to detect.

well, then why i get a K alert instead of a laser alert?? I've been shot at by lidar from the pitkin county sheriff and i do get the lidar alerts, but this eagle county sheriff guys give me a K signal, with my V1 i do get some time to slow down, but with my 8500 X50 I don't get that much time to slow down.... I guess is not the best anymore, ha ha!

It sounds like simple I/O K-band. Escort detectors are notoriously slow to react to I/O, often missing the alert altogether, if the officer quick-triggers the gun. And even with a V1, you're only going to get an alert when the officer triggers. If he has good trigger discipline, that may be too late even for a V1. There simply is no sure-fire defence against I/O. The best you can do is to assure you have the most sensitive and responsive RD you can get, maintain keen situational awareness, and hope for the best.

I/O is harder to detect than C/O. This goes for all radar detectors. When I/O is used in your area, your best bet is to use a rabbit (someone going faster than you) and let the rabbit get hit first. You'll get an alert when they get hit and should have enough time to slow down unless you are tailgating your rabbit.

yeah, i call those guys "scouts", it's very handy to get one of those in front of you, that's my measure against I/O on me, he he!. but anyway, thanks for the tips, i hope i can post some pictures of my hard wire V! i just did it today with a remote mute button, it's pretty sweet install, hopefully everybody can see it this week.

    Welcome to board,

I have family in Colorado and spend fair amount of time there. CSP use VASCAR in addition to Laser and Radar. No radar or laser detector will help with that. Believe me, I can speak from experience. Lucky for me I was going about 5 mph over PSL, I got off with a warning.
