New here - Odd alert question

Hello everyone.

I know in general cobra detectors are not the best (saving up for a V1), but I recently got a cobra XRS 9345 for free from a friend, so I thought to might as well give it a shot.

It works okay, been detecting Ka band here and there and speed traps, but soemthing wierd happened today:

While I was adjusting my side mirrors, the thing went non-stop on laser alert, (isn't it made for 904nm?). is this just an effect of the sun shinning onto the detector? or is my car doing something to make it go off?

There's several threads on various different detectors that have laser alerts being caused by various things (window motors, side mirror motors like yours etc.) and it's an electrical feed back problem. I *believe* the fix was to get some Ferrite beads to put on the power cord/ground cord to cure the issue. Not sure but do a forum search for laser interference and it might pull up some of the pages with fixes, but what's happening is your electrical system is feeding back into the detector thus causing a "laser" alert.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, found what I needed.
I have some spare ferrites from old unused computers, will see where that takes me.
