Hardwire VS powerpoint(cig lighter)

Would it be acceptable to use the cig lighter for the pos/neg connections to power the cpu of the Li?
Can't imagine it being a prob but wanted to ask you guys for any tips.

Thats a good power source. I made it hot from the battery directly cause I want to make sure the LI is definitely on! =)

For a recent install I did I tapped the positive wire behind the socket and used a random bolt for the ground. All is well.
