Default Anyone use the Bel 904?

Am I the only one who still uses the Bel 904? It's always worked well for me and I'm pretty sure the 905 is identical except you can hook up a radar detector to it...I just never see any reviews or posts about it.

Yep, and it continues to work great.
A question: does yours turn itself on with ignition, or do you have to manually power it on each time with the power button?
The manual states it can do this (and every other bel product) but mine doesn't,. and I see no hidden way of programming it.

Yea, I have the same problem...which is kind of annoying sometimes...my manual says it shouldn't do this but I just deal with it. I'll post pics of where it's mounted a little later.

The white marks are where I put the heads...I have the rear one on the license plate and I used Add A Fuse/Circuit to get power to it. It seems to work really well in those locations and they're hardly visible unless you know what to look for.

I think its just an issue witht he 904 because it has its own interface.

Yeah..but the manual even says it can do it...

I keep intending to program a little microcontroller to solder into the control unit to:
    At powerup
    1. wait a few seconds (so key can turn to second position)
    2. disconnect the speaker (so I don't have to hear the damn thing power up)
    3. press the power button for a half second to turn on the unit
    4. after a few seconds, re-enable the speaker

Because the problem is, I do not turn on my 904 for my normal commuting and around-town driving, just when I'm taking highway trips. And this is what I specifically say is a bad practice for many people who do that with detectors. If it turned it self on (quietly) I would always be protected without thinking about it.
