Default Simple Jammer Question Check this Out

I'd like to know something. If my jammer (Lidatek dual) goes off does that mean that they are actually jamming? Meaning is it possible for me to be hit by laser, get an audible/visual aleart, and still not jam the offending gun. Or does my jammer going off mean that I'm actually jamming something.

Whenever it "goes off" it means it has received a signal and it is attempting to jam it.

Let's say, for whatever strange reason, you get scatter from up ahead. It'll receive the signal, and send out a jamming signal. Obviously, it is probably not jamming anything because the jamming signal cannot reach the gun.

If an officer shoots your vehicle, the jammer recieves the signal, and sends out a jamming signal. It may still be sending out a jamming signal, even when an officer has already gotten punch through. Depending on the jammer, it may stop alerting/jamming when it stops recieveing a laser signal (possible PT) or (like the LPPs) it may go on alerting for about 5 seconds after a laser signal has stopped (punch through.)

A way to gauge if your being a target for laser is to also use your RD and listen to the laser alert and determine how long its alerting. Just my .02.

That's not very reliable, either. First off, many detectors have a hard time even alerting to laser in the first place. Secondly, many detectors will continue for a few seconds to laser, regardless of the fact that the laser gun already had PT.

    ^ +1.

The current crop of Escort products, including the ZR3 Laser Shifter, are perfect examples of this "continues to alert" scenario.

And also as brother ELVATO cited, there are plenty of posts from fellow hobbyists here who have confirmed that they were either the target of the laser threat (i.e. jammer was alerting) or have received a speeding citation, without their detector (and yes, the top-flight detectors were not immune to this, unfortunately) having alerted.

That's unfortunately not a reliable test, Snake Plisken.
