One thing which I have learned after doing some initial number crunching is that it is amazing that light emitting diode based jammers and laser emitting diode jammers work at all. Note that an abbreviation for laser emitting diodes is LED, which is the same abbreviation used for conventional light emitting diodes. Thus, I propose the following nomenclature which we could all use to distinguish between light emitting diode and laser emitting diode IR sources:
LED -- Light Emitting Diode, which refers to standard light emitting diodes of all types which do not emit coherent radiation.
CLED -- Coherent Light Emitting Diode, which refers to any type of diode laser since only a laser emits coherent radiation.
I've also been searching for some super high power IR LEDs, and I have found some. They are so powerful that they require a heat sink! My idea is create simple op-amp circuitry to drive these additional high power IR LEDs which would be concealed within my tail lights or mounted very close to my headlights. The op-amp circuits would get their signals from a single wire tapped into one of jammer head LEDs, and the op-amp circuit gain would be adjusted accordingly to appropriately drive the ultra high power LEDs and mimic the intensity curves of the jammer head's built-in LEDs.
Anyway, I am pretty busy this week. Yet when I have time I want to create spreadsheets and write up an article clearly explaining my ideas (including the math) along the above lines of thought. Hopefully it will be a fun hypothetical discussion with additional input and ideas which could be tested.
The way I see it is that the better jammer manufacturers are already providing us with all of the necessary electronics to both detect and then generate countermeasure jamming signals. My goal is, via custom installed high power LEDs (rather than CLEDs) driven by custom op-amp circuits, to produce JTG output since I think that the potential for this is achievable with conventional yet very high power LEDs rather than CLEDs. Another aspect of my goal is to safely do this without risk of the intense IR output potentially being hazardous to anyone's vision.
Well, these are my thoughts for what they are worth. I think that my goal is achievable using currently available electronics products.
