Default Where would I mount my jammer heads to be stealthy?

Where should I mount the heads for a zr4 on a Lexus IS250 to be as stealthy as possible? I do plenty of VA driving and I really don't feel like being pulled over.

Post a pic of your vehicle. Also read the this:

    http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...-glossary.html

You don't want to "stealth" your install if doing so sacrifices the performance of your jammer system.

Stealth the ride not the install. Laser jammer heads are hardly any visible to any lay person.

Get a replacement grill and cut one of them to mount the heads in the grill

Jammers are illegal here in my state. I have a jammer but I, too, am having difficulty mounting the heads stealthy thus they just sit in my garage shelf. I really really would like to have it installed as I drive some long straight highway miles with many speed traps.

Though I have Escort detectors I use my eyes to see and scan ahead and make sure there aren't any speed trap set up, ie, laser threats. Often I spot LEOs before they can get me with their laser gun (I peek out quickly from behind rows of cars to spot them when I'm nearing the known spots.) I usually get the laser scatter from the beam bouncing off/ scattering from the cars in front of me and my detector would go off but by then I'm already in slow lane doing the acceptable speed.

Some LEOs in certain situations don't like what they see as they think I have some type of jammer of sorts and once in a while some of them would pull out and cruise by me, in front of me and around my car to visually check out the front of my car. Well so far, since, obviously they didn't see anything unusual, they would just speed away pissed. But this is the reason I can't chance installing my jammer.

I think this is something jammer people eventually needs to work out.

99% of LEO's never run into cars with jammers. If you slow and then kill the jammers you will not have a problem. It's not uncommon for a lidar gun to take a few seconds to get a reading, so slowing and killing the jammer will not raise eyebrows.

I've had LEO's sit behind my car for 30 minutes talking about the Vette and never ask about the jammer heads.

Jammers and radar detectors are illegal in my state too...well pretty much everything short of tying your shoe is illegal here.. but anyway, i don't worry about jammer heads on the front of my car. like cat4 said, if you use them wisely, you won't even be suspected.

I was worried about my rear jammer for a while, until someone asked me where i got the cool light for my license plate

You could always say it's a parking sensor if you get a blinder, (not a lie is it? )

That 1%(?) is what I'm concerned. I guess it's the kinda personality I have that I'm deductive thinking person. In my mind that's a hole in a strategy. If that 1% happens to sit behind me at a traffic light in a broad daylight and happens to stare at my rear jammer head mounted above the license plate in a state where jammers are illegal... then what happens? That's why I could never do the rear jammer head, even more so than the front heads.

Did you know that some LEOs are enthused enough about this lidar cat and mouse game that they spend their own money to buy their own personal laser gun of their choice? I got that from checking out one of the LEO forum! I'd think these guys would know jammer head installation when they see one. But having said that I think I'll be moving outta this state pretty soon so that at least the front jammer heads are going on soon.

are rear laser shots common in your state? most people don't even get rear jammers unless you've seen multiple leo's shoot laser from behind. like you said, you could go with front jammers until you move.

personally, i'd rather get a no-point ticket in VA for a jammer than a point speeding ticket. *shrug*

I don't think so. But who knows. I'm the kinda driver that thoroughly check any possible structures spots etc that they could hide behind before I proceed so rear jammer would be nice, I guess, but not necessary. Besides I don't really like the whole what to do after you get hit from the rear scenario anyway: slam on the brake or pull emergency brake?

I don't think it's a ticket here: it's "Petty Offense" (misdemeanor). Does this Petty Offense record affect my insurance premium? I don't know. However, supposedly, by law, LEO cannot stop a vehicle solely based on suspicion of having a jammer though...

So this brings up the question: so what if my car nose dived by me slamming on the brake as long as I was not clocked speeding? Or is nose diving a clear admission that I was speeding like how LEOs talk about on their forums? I suppose if I was clocked at slightly over PSL and the front of my car nose dived that would be clear sign I was going faster than the clocked speed. But then what speed was I supposedly doing since the hit was jammed and I slowed down? How admissible of an evidence would this be: "I clocked him at 60, Judge, and his front end nose dived from slamming on the brake therefore he had to be going much faster"? Another thing is, nose diving alone can't be an admission/proof of having a jammer.

Anyhow I think jammer MFGs should offer some type of jammer heads that can blend in as to look like they are part of the car or such... like different color and shape option or something.

Many LEOs supposedly check out this board to get INFO on counter measure etc so perhaps we shouldn't give em too much

I would put it in the lower grill.
