Would a fine sandpapering followed by a glossy clear coat work? :?

What would be the purpose of that? I see no advantage.Originally Posted by aspera
If you're talking about plastic plates, i was wondering the same thing... just sandpaper the top and it'll be duller. You';re doing this to reduce laser reflectivity, right?
I was wondering if spraying a couple of coats of Matte clearcoat would help reduce the reflectivity of the plate. Does anyone know if this is what Photo Stopper does?
Barely. Maybe scraping it up would help. Ideally you'd repaint the plate in the official colours. If you have a plate with a very simple colour scheme (for example Quebec plates, a white plate with the raised lettering dark blue, no fancy designs) you can probably do this rather easily, particularly considering the paint that is applied normally to the plates isn't applied very well (ie streaks and not entirely within the borders).
