Default Rear LIDAR Save with 9500ci

I can't believe it, but I actually got a rear 9500ci save today.

Was hauling tail up 75 in the middle lane to go around a slow poke in the left lane. I nailed it when I hit the middle lane to go around this car. As I built up speed, I heard the rear shifter alert. I quickly looked down at my speedometer... 97 (PSL is 70). I quickly jammed the brakes, got down to 73 (I literally jammed them) and turned off the shifter.

During the process I looked in my rearview mirror and in the distance I could see a GSP trooper sitting on the entrance ramp. I think I was probably between 1/4-1/2 mile down the road when he hit me.

I would imagine he would issue a ticket for 27 over the PSL (including the super speeder ticket). Got lucky for sure!

Nice save, the Super Speeder law does not go into effect until 1/1/10 according to the officer I spoke with.

Nice, but the 27 over PSL would be a nice hit on the driver's license and insurance (not to mention the wallet).

I'm really surprised it saved me. I've read about such poor performance of the ZR4's of the 9500ci, especially the rear shifter. I was driving with my lights on (HID lights since I've heard it helps), and I wonder if the rear LED tail lights interfered with his ability to get a reading. I don't have a license plate cover, so I'm sure that's reflective enough to get a reading. Maybe the ZR4 was what saved me after all.

At 27 over it would have been a nice ticket. I've noticed that even the locals are starting to shoot you in the rear lately. Even though they are supposed to be visible from 500ft before I guess they feel most people won't fight it and they can get more tickets that way.

I will fight it even if I know I'm guilty. It lessens their profit margin when you tie up things in their court system.

My ZR3 saved me from a rear shot on an Altima. If they target your tag (and they almost always do because it's so reflective), you have a decent chance at being saved.

I got shot in the front at really close range while accelerating to pass at 80+ mph It scared the crap out of me and I then got shot in the back I was near PSL when I got the rear shot though...

I like to think the ZR3 helped.

Just heard so much negative press about the ZR4 performance that I didn't think it would save me. (I'm driving a fairly big car.) I've had a couple front LIDAR saves.

I'm tempted to put a single coat of Veil on the headlights, but I'm afraid it'll be noticeable. It's a misdemeanor to cover up your headlights in Georgia.
