I have a 2003 Honda Accord LX 2.4L. It's not a fast car, but I'm a pretty aggressive driver that's got a couple of speeding tickets before the 9500ix, so I would like to be protected all around. After getting fined out but a** for speeding, the value of good counter-measures is clearly an investment worth making.

Well, I am a Do-it-yourself kind of guy, but I live in an Condo and there isn't too much space on the street to do car mods. I do what I can, but I'm not sure how much work adding a jammer involves so just wanted to know what good shops are out there.

If you know of any good instructional videos, I'd appreciate that as well. Thanks.

Hitting people in the rear is a smart idea... Most people slow down when they see the cop, but only until they pass the cop. If they're like me, they will speed back up once they pass the cop hahaha. Now I know better!

But I dont expect do speed that much in Queens or LI... too risky for me! I'll prob allow myself +12 mph. I can't believe how fast I used to drive on those roads before I got my RD and before I came on this forum and read this thread!!! Especially late at night with NO ONE else in the road except me and cops (no rabbits haha)! The whole IO/QT thing is too scary even with a RD. Going against laser, I am helpless unless the cop shoots me long enough to know that I've slowed down and gives me a break.

Related story, once on the NYS Thruway I was going between 80-85mph (they start pulling people over after 78mph according to Officer Healy) and I got shot in the front with laser... I was like "shieeet" and hit my brakes until I was going 70mph and the RD was still telling me that I was under attack by laser... I thought i would get a ticket for sure. After I passed the cop he didn't pull me over. I've added that to my "number of saves" count because I feel if I didnt slow down he would have given me a ticket for sure. Only the V1 could have alerted me correctly because it was 11pm, pitch black, and he was quite far up ahead from me to notice with out help from the V1.

Two summers ago I got a ticket for 81 in 65mph in the same area... oh and couple days ago my friend got the same exact ticket lol, his first one. I felt really bad and if he had a RD he would have been saved! There were too many cops out that anyway, as usual, and he should have known to kept the speed down. Alas, he was following a friend who was haulin ass on the highway and we just trying to keep up. The cop said he will get a huge break in court since its his first ticket.

I am looking into a jammer as well, however, I need it to be some what portable, so that I can use it in any of my cars and on rental cars during my business trips. I think a jammer is a must have here on Suffolk & Nassau.

I wish I could attend the Aug. 1st meet, however, I will be in Vaasa, Finland on business from the July 31st to Aug 7th.

    I know the feeling!
I too travel a lot on business and it's rental cars all the time.
The good part is I get to drive all kinds of different cars and have had everything from Ford Focus, to Mustang to Jaguar to Camaros.
The bad part is my V1 can be picked up by Leo detectors and I drive from NY to Atlanta quite frequently.
I hate planes BTW which is why I drive.

In Va etc the first beep and I unplug the V1 which is set up in a discreet place.
My tactic if caught is to deny, deny and deny some more.
I know some cars are just running Spectre so I would have no idea they tracked me, but I've been lucky so far.

Dangerous I know but it's worked for me for at least 5 years or so.

I *am* thinking of getting a Redline for these trips though.

Not a radar topic but just a warning for anyone traveling on RT 110 (exit 49) near the expressway.
They are doing some major repairs on 110 and the road is a mess.
Sewer covers are sticking up several inches from the surface of the road and you will not see them until it's too late, especially at night.
At least 2 people I know have ripped parts off the bottom of their cars due to this.

If you have a lowered car, I wouldn't go near the area unless you have no choice and then drive real slow and watch out.

Can someone identify what radar system this is and what band? It looks like it is mounted on the roof. I've heard about these, but not familiar.

The V1 never alerted to him. I drove about 3 miles with him from behind, until he pulled the X5 over (not sure why).

    Thanks,

Don't think they use an external "antenna" for radar frequencies.
It's a waveguide as far as I know.
Just guessing here and going back to my college EE microwave classes which were a long time ago.

Anyway, I just came down from upstate NY (Warwick NY, near Sloatsburg) and what a mess on the roads. I usually come down 17 till Sloatsburg and then jump on 87 south, to 287 East to the Hutch and over the Whitestone.

It was a total mess today.

Ended up bypassing the Hutch and going 95 to 295 and over the T-neck.
Got screwed up due to detours and ended up in some really nasty hood.
Not good driving a Mustang vert with the top down

I gotta find a better way

Once I hit the LIE at the Clearview (secret tip, never, ever, ever take the CIP, you are almost always better off on the Clearview as it is empty even if you take the Whitestone, get off at like the 2nd exit and take the Clearview) it was 70+ in the HOV lane all the way home to exit 70.

The Westbound side was a nightmare though with Hampton's traffic heading back to NYC. Backed up for miles.
    Many miles!

One thing I am noticing is that I almost never pick up anything from the Sheriff cars in Suffolk County.
They had the Dodge's out etc I rarely if ever get a hit?

I was using the V1 and it sure let me know about every Trailblazer and Infinity

Are they using some off band stuff or what?

I know you really have to screw up bad in the HOV to get stopped, but like I said it was 70+ and they weren't even looking.

    Any ideas?

P.S I have seen them pacing so watch for that.
    These cars were stationary though.

I would have to agree with mustang, sunday was a mess. I was coming from Bergenfield NJ, a 40 min ride usually take me to get home took me 2 HRS, GW Bridge Forget about, took the Lincoln Tunnel still traffic and my friend was in the Holland Tunnel for an about hr.

Anyways do other people find themselves ignoring Laser alert V1 ? I find my self just ignoring them because I know more likely it's a false alert from an Infinti (since we live in the city I can get about 5 to 10 alerts within an hr, if the roads are heavy). I know I should pay attention to it but I have realize I don't slow down when I hear it, only if I'm the only one on the road.
