    Default Poor Uthans

Tonight down my residential street in Orem Utah, I saw a single LEO have a turkey shoot of tickets in a 90 minute window. Park on the street, lights off, K-band on C/O, 30 seconds later, a new ticket. I felt sorry for most of them, perhaps only going 35 in the 25 zone. It was obvious no-one was running with detectors.

It again reminds me of how curious it is that LEOs bother with I/O when there are so many fish to fry where so few are running with detectors on board. This guy was blasting K like my kids run their speakers when I'm not at home. But it's only blasting if you have ears on.

I hear what your saying about LEOs and IO, pretty much don't need it when only 10% of us drive with detectors. Of course that's the reason I got my first radar detector was due to a speeding ticket.

I can think of a few.

It could just be the equipment. If it's a handheld gun that has a trigger, why not just use I/O? I've seen it used pretty sloppily where they just hit every car, so it's not that they're trying to be stealthy. Conversely, I've never seen a vehicle mount unit being used for I/O; I guess it's easier to just turn it on and eat a donut while waiting for a high number to pop up.

It could also be that I/O users want to maintain the perception that detectors don't work, so it's not more than "ten percent of us" that has one.
