Default Florida Highway Patrol still using a LTi Marksman 20-20

I'd be pissed if I was still using that shoebox with a shoulder stock.

Saw him on I-75 in northern Florida.

It's actually not a bad gun. It's just heavy and the sight is like a rifle scope instead of just a normal lense. I'd still rather use it than any radar gun, it's more fun.

I've seen my local state police using one too. But if you go to guys of lidar:

    Notes

The LTI 20-20 was introduced in 1991, and was the very first police laser gun on the market.

The LTI 20-20 is not IACP Approved.

I don't know if LEO's care about this or not or if it even matters.

I thought FHP did use the IACP list as the basis for their gun selections.

However, as of June 2010 the Marksman 20/20 was still approved for use. https://www.flrules.org/gateway/Chap...?Chapter=15B-2 - eighth notice on that page lists all of their approved guns, radar and LIDAR...and stopwatches, too. There's two LIDAR exceptions since 6-2010 that were listed on another page I saw while trying to find that.

For those of you that care, There's a county just east of Toronto, Ontario known as "Durham" which still uses the Marksman 20/20. I had the pleasure only a few years ago to get a ticket from one of these..

I still see them on occasion when passing through there... It's not a bad gun, I've used it myself.. just the metal gets cold as hell if it's below freezing.. :/

The original 20/20 (which was just called the 20/20) was the first Lidar gun, and is not IACP approved.

The Marksman 20/20, the successor to the original 20/20, is a 2nd generation gun, and is IACP approved, and as you see, some departments still use it.

Sometimes the 20/20 moniker is applied to the Ultralyte series as well, but I just call those "Ultralytes".
