Default 2006 Impala Police Pack - 56k doom

    More Photos @ GMInsideNews

303hp 5.3 V8, front-wheel drive, unless it's been bumped up for the cop car... Hopefully this will eliminate the Crown Victoria for good, but I think the Mopars are really coming back to the market in a big way... we'll see...

Why are GM and Ford turning their bread and butter sedans into last-generation VW Passat ripoffs?

Note the column shifter, LS trim with dual exhaust V8, and the American flag on the rear quarter - isn't this car made in Oshawa?

They probably blow up and burst into flames just like the old cop cars.

I loved my Impala 01' "police car"....that is when it wasn't in the shop all the time. The damn cost me thousands in repairs and on top of it all the front end was so big I couldn't cloak the car against laser very well. I needed a Blinder M30 at the time.

FWD and a 303hp V8 is the worse idea ever, I have bad torque steer in my 200hp volvo and it my cousin's t5 the torque steer is horrible.

GM's system isn't nearly as bad as you'd think, if you do the halfshafts properly and keep good geometry and length similarity you can minimize the torquesteer.

still FWD is bad idea consideringthe effects it has on the handling. My Volvo is pretty bad on the autoX track and i have gotten very good on driving it, I'd still perfer RWD with a good traction control. only reason i got FWD is i need a car that will take the snow and is a safe body

303hp 5.3 V8, front-wheel drive  I driven fwd cars with more horsepower. Cops are going to run into traction and steering problems. Not to mention fwd cars eat up tires quick. I think the car is going to be not as quick as people think. With all the police equipment installed all that power is going to vanish.

GM in it's Corporate "Wisdom" handed the Police and Taxi market segment to Ford years ago.
Now they are scrambling to get it back.....typical.
If there is a way to screw things up GM will find it and then take it to the next level.

    :P

I Personally think GM makes nothing but crap....not a fan of their products....if the last GMC Jimmy I had the misfortune of ownig is any example I hope all Police forces switch to GM.

That way no one will get any speeding tickets.....cause the cruisers will be in the repair shop rather than on the roads.....
