NC Highway Patrol Campaign Targets Lead-Foot Motorists
Operation Slow Down

Troopers across North Carolina will be out in full force this week as part of Operation Slow Down.

Law enforcement officers will be targeting interstates and major four-lane highways across the state in an effort to crack down on speeders.

Officials said speeding is one of the leading causes of crashes and traffic deaths in North Carolina.

Troopers said it is not unusual to see speeders going 80 or 90 miles an hour on the interstates. However, they said many drivers are seen traveling more than 100 miles an hour.

The Highway Patrol conducts speeding crackdowns at least a handful of times every year, usually around holidays and busy driving times.
