Major traffic operation in Montego Bay

The Montego Bay police yesterday arrested seven motorists on warrants for traffic violations and seized 24 vehicles during a 10-hour operation to clamp down on drivers who have been breaking the law.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Denver Frater, head of the Area One police, told The Gleaner that 374 tickets were also issued for traffic violations.
According to him, a total of 4,000 vehicles were checked.
He said 93 pairs of licence plates were also removed from defective vehicles.
"Robot taxis operating contrary to the Road Traffic Act were seized and other affected persons received letters for them to clarify the defects," Frater said.
"The plates will only be returned upon the satisfaction of a motor vehicle examiner that the defects have been remedied."
