FAIRFIELD Highway Patrol has warned motorists to slow down this month for Operation Roadsafe. The operation, a joint program of the Roads and Traffic Authority and the NSW Police, will target speeding drivers.
Senior Sergeant Rob Malovic said the Fairfield Highway Patrol would be out in force. ``Our aim is to continue to keep the road toll down by targeting safety offences. Police will target non-wearing of seatbelts and fatigue,'' he said.
``When we increase our presence and undertake a blitz of this type we often issue in excess of 100 speeding tickets per day in the local area.
``All we ask is that drivers obey the law. You will not only save money and demerit points but you would help keep our roads safe. You could even save a life.''
Fairfield Council has provided a speed check radar on local roads as part of the operation to highlight to residents the need to check their speed.
