ST. LOUIS -- Four police agencies will be stopping motorists tonight to see if they are too impaired to be driving, police said today.

The checkpoint will last from 10:30 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. on Saturday.

The exact location of the checkpoint is not being released, but the agencies involved might give drivers a hint. They are the St. John Police Department, the Overland Police Department, St. Louis County Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Recent alcohol-related accidents in the area that is being targeted prompted the special enforcement, according to St. Louis County police.

Officers will also look for other violations.

"The goal of this enforcement is to save lives by reducing alcohol-related accidents and increasing seat belt use," said St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch.
